September 1, 2016 Minutes Approved with the following correction: Correct the minutes to reflect that the additional $5 going into the trail fund starts October 1, 2016 and does not have an end date as listed in the September minutes.
- Treasures Report:
- Current balance is $5940
- County has the initial 30% trail fund distribution and should send it out within the next two weeks. We anticipate approximately $9000.
- Monthly groomer payment is $1600.
- Anticipate $6000 in additional expenses for immediate trail work.
- Important Registration Notice:
- Governor Cuomo is allowing ½ of the DMV snowmobile registration fee to go into the trail fund this year.
- Currently the DMV keeps $10 of every registration; $5 of this will now be put in the trail fund for all new and renewed registrations.
- To help our club get the most of the 70% distribution this season, we ask that everyone register their snowmobile(s) before December 1, 2016.
- Trails:
- We have constructed a Deer fence gate in an orchard on S48. It is 7’x9’ with plastic cooler flaps. It will be well marked with Barrier Ahead signs. We will monitor it with a field wildlife camera to see how well it works. Pictures and results will be posted. Each gate cost approximately $300 and we have two more to build.
- Completed a new section of trail through the woods on S49 (Brantling Trail). Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to clear the trail. We also need to install a gate on this section of trail so that it can be closed during the summer.
- Section of C4 by Brick Schoolhouse Road has been leveled and the waterhole has been filled in so that the water will drain away.
- We are required to certify all volunteers who sign the trails. We will be having a STEP Training class at the groomer barn. Details will be posted on the Web Site and FB. This training will be required every two years.
- Need to extend the culvert at Lakebluff Road.
- Need to install the new gate on the trail entrance to Chimney Bluffs State Park.
- We need DEC approval to construct a bridge over a section of trail in Marion.
- We have a few more miles of land owner approval required to complete the trail from Savannah to Red Creek.
- Groomers:
- We should begin on the final repair of the transfer case on the Tucker this month.
- All groomers have had the maintenance complete and are ready to go.
- The Bombardier is still up for sale.
- Groomer Barn:
- Electric service has been installed. A special thank you to a member who donated all the material and to all who helped install it.
- Floor cost is estimated to cost $10000.
- Discussion of the floor construction has been tabled to the next meeting.
- 501(c)(3) status:
- Further progress has been made in the process.
- Miscellaneous:
- November’s meeting will be at Skipper’s Landing. Once the season starts we will move the location throughout the trail system.
