The Rt 414 bridge in Clyde will be reduced to one lane starting next week for construction. We have been in contact with the village, and they are going to require all traffic down the center. Snowmobiles will be able to pass on the EAST side of the bridge. All snowmobiles must go on the east side and can use the sidewalk only on the bridge if needed. PLEASE USE EXTRA CAUTON and go slow as there will be workers on the bridge. Please be respectful and pay attention to them. You must yield to them. For Immediate Release:January 30, 2026TRAVEL ADVISORYLane Reduction on Route 414 Bridge Over Railroad Tracks in Clyde, Wayne CountyThe New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that a portion of State Route 414 (also known as Main Street) in the vicinity of the CSX Railroad tracks in the Village of Clyde, Wayne County, will be reduced to a single lane with alternating flows of traffic controlled by temporary signals beginning Monday, February 2. The lane reduction is necessary to facilitate repairs to the bridge that carries the roadway over the railroad tracks and the Erie Canal and will be in place until further notice.Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.About the Department of TransportationIt is the mission of the New York State Department of Transportation to provide a safe, reliable, equitable, and resilient transportation system that connects communities, enhances quality of life, protects the environment, and supports the economic well-being of New York State.Lives are on the line; slow down and move over for highway workers! For more information, find us on Facebook, follow us on X or Instagram, or visit our website.
